About boudoir photography
What boudoir is, who it is for, and why people book.
-
Boudoir photography is an intimate style of portrait photography that celebrates you, your body and the way you want to be seen. It can be soft, sensual, playful, editorial or somewhere in between. At Boudoir Antwerp, every session is fully guided by Lennart, so you never need to arrive knowing how to pose or what to do.
-
People book boudoir sessions for many reasons: to celebrate a milestone like a wedding, birthday, or pregnancy, to embrace a new life chapter, or to create a special gift for a partner. Others simply want an empowering, memorable experience for themselves. You don't need a "big reason" to celebrate who you are.
-
Boudoir is for every body type, gender and stage of life. You do not need to feel confident, know how to pose or look a certain way before you book. The whole point is to create an experience that meets you where you are and helps you feel comfortable in front of the camera.
-
Not at all. You can wear lingerie, a bodysuit, an oversized shirt, something more covered, implied nude or nothing at all. You decide what feels right for you, and that can change during the session too. There is never any pressure to show more than you want to.
-
Solo boudoir is centred entirely on you and can include bridal sessions too. Couples boudoir focuses on the chemistry, intimacy and connection between you and your partner. Maternity boudoir celebrates pregnancy and the body you are in during that chapter. The approach is different for each, but all three are personal, guided and shaped around your comfort level.
-
Bridal boudoir is a solo boudoir session photographed before your wedding. Some clients create the images as a private gift for their partner, while others book it simply to celebrate themselves at that moment in their life. You can incorporate bridal lingerie, a veil, wedding shoes, jewellery or other details from the day if you want to.
Preparing for your boudoir session
What to wear, what to bring, and how to feel ready on the day.
-
Preparation starts with your free consultation, where we talk through your ideas, style, outfits and anything you are unsure about. You can also use our Boudoir Shoot Planner for practical advice on what to wear, what to bring, grooming, styling and the little details that are easy to forget. You do not need to arrive with everything figured out.
-
There are no rules. Lingerie and bodysuits photograph beautifully, but so can an oversized shirt, a blazer, knitwear, a silk robe or something meaningful from your own wardrobe. Bring pieces that feel like you, and we can help you decide what will work best with the mood you want to create.
-
Bring more options than you think you will need. We can look through them together and choose the strongest combinations on the day. The number of looks photographed depends on your package, from a more focused Mini session to greater variety with Signature and Gold.
-
The Boudoir Shoot Planner is our practical guide to getting ready for your session. It covers outfit ideas, what to bring, hair and grooming, things to avoid before your shoot, posing reassurance and packing checklists, with extra tips for solo, couples, maternity and bridal sessions.
-
For maternity boudoir, the best time is whenever you feel comfortable and happy with how your bump looks. Many clients choose the later second or early third trimester, when the bump is beautifully defined but moving around still feels comfortable. Bridal boudoir can be photographed before or after the wedding, although if the images are intended as a wedding-day gift, we recommend allowing enough time for selection, retouching and delivery.
-
Professional make-up is included with the Gold package. If you choose Mini or Signature, it can also be added separately for an additional cost. It is completely optional, so you are just as welcome to arrive styled in your own way. Professional hair styling is not included in any of our packages.
During your boudoir session
How the session works, who is there, and how Lennart guides you.
-
We start by aligning on the specific aesthetic and mood you wish to create. Once the shoot begins, Lennart provides complete, step-by-step guidance, directing your poses, movement, and facial expressions while optimizing the lighting and camera angles. There is plenty of room to laugh, try something different, take a pause or change direction as you go. The goal is for the session to feel just as memorable as the final images.
-
Not at all. The majority of our clients have never stood in front of a professional camera before. Lennart provides expert guidance throughout your entire session. He specializes in creating a comfortable, stress-free environment, ensuring you never have to worry about posing, expressions, or body positioning. We will take care of every detail to make sure you look and feel your best.
-
That depends on the package you choose. Mini sessions last around 30 minutes, while Signature and Gold allow more time for additional looks, settings and variety. The longest sessions can take up to three hours.
-
Lennart will photograph your session, and depending on what you have booked, a female assistant or professional makeup artist may also be present. If you would feel more comfortable bringing a friend or partner for support, you are very welcome to do so.
-
Boudoir Antwerp welcomes clients in English, Dutch, French and German, and Lennart also speaks some Spanish. You can have your consultation and session in the language that feels most comfortable to you.
