Your first boudoir photoshoot: What to expect at Boudoir Antwerp

Boudoir Antwerp’s private photography studio in Antwerp, with a bed, plants, and studio lighting

A boudoir photoshoot is so much more than an opportunity to take beautiful photographs. It's a chance to celebrate your individuality, embrace your sensuality, and see yourself in a whole new light.

But if you've never experienced one before, it's only natural to have a few questions:

  • What happens during a boudoir shoot?

  • What should I wear?

  • Do I need to know how to pose?

We hear these questions we hear all the time. The good news? You don't need to know how to pose or feel super confident to enjoy a boudoir session. That's what we're here for.

Whether you're simply curious or already planning your first photoshoot, we're taking you behind the scenes at Boudoir Antwerp to show you exactly what to expect, from your first conversation with Lennart to the moment you see your finished photographs.

It all starts with your consultation

Every experience at Boudoir Antwerp begins with a complimentary consultation with your photographer, Lennart Knab. It's a chance to get to know each other, see if we're the right fit, and talk about the kind of session you would like.

We'll talk about what inspired you to consider a boudoir photoshoot, how you'd like your photographs to look, and feel, and any ideas or outfits you've been dreaming up. We always encourage clients to bring along a few reference images or a Pinterest board. It's a great way for us to get a feel for your personal style and explore how we can bring your ideas to life.

This is also your space for you to ask questions, share any concerns, and talk through all those little details that help make the experience your own:

  • Wondering if a studio or an on-location shoot would suit you better?

  • Feeling a little nervous about posing

  • Curious about how retouching works?

Whatever's on your mind, Lennart is there to guide you, offer advice, and help you feel completely at ease.

Our goal during the consultation is for you to feel heard, comfortable, and excited about what's to come. Because the most beautiful boudoir photographs begin with an experience that puts you at ease and lets your personality shine.

Getting ready for your boudoir photoshoot

With your consultation behind you, you'll already have a good idea of how your session will come together. You've talked through the location, the overall look and feel of your photographs, and perhaps even a few outfits you'd love to wear. Now it's time to bring those ideas together!

Lingerie might be the first thing that comes to mind, but it's certainly not your only option. A beautiful bodysuit, an oversized shirt, a silk robe or even a favourite piece from your wardrobe can look just as gorgeous. We recommend bringing a few outfit options, along with any jewellery, heels or accessories you'd like to include.

If your package includes professional makeup, our makeup artist will be there to help you get camera-ready before your session begins. Otherwise, arrive with your favourite makeup look and bring along any extras you need for touch-ups or a change of look.

As for the rest? Keep it simple. Get a good night's sleep, moisturise your skin, and give yourself permission to relax. For more tips, our boudoir photoshoot planner has everything you need to prepare. We've got you.

The day of your boudoir photoshoot

Whether we're welcoming you to our private studio in Antwerp or meeting you at a location of your choice, we'll start by getting comfortable, chatting through your ideas, and making sure you're happy with the plan for your session.

During your session, you’ll be in good hands. With over 15 years of photography experience and a background in fashion, Lennart knows how to use lighting, angles and posing to bring out your best. He'll guide you through every movement, from where to place your hands to how to angle your body to get the best shot. Depending on your session, a female assistant or makeup artist may also be there to help things run smoothly.

And remember, this is your experience, so if you want to try something different, have an idea you'd love to explore, or just need a little break. Just say the word. Every session is as different as the person in front of the camera, and that's exactly how we like it.

Seeing your photographs for the first time

One of the best moments of your boudoir experience is seeing your photographs for the very first time.

Within 10 days of your session, you'll receive access to your own private online gallery, where you can take your time browsing the images and choosing your favourites. The number of photographs you can choose depends on your package, but if you fall in love with a few extras, you can always add them to your collection for an additional fee.

Once you've made your choices, Lennart will carefully retouch your selected images, adding those final touches while keeping everything looking beautifully natural. Your finished photographs are then delivered digitally, ready for you to enjoy, share or keep just for yourself.

And if you'd love something a little more tangible, we also offer beautiful customised albums, folio boxes, fine-art wall prints, and acrylic blocks. A lovely way to turn your favourite photographs into something you can hold, display, and treasure for years to come.
